Digital City 85: E3 edition--Kinect, motion games, Nintendo's mysterious 3DS

A certain E3 Expo has swept in to steal the spotlight everywhere, so, of course, we spend the episode breaking down the aftermath of Microsoft's news conference, including an impressive surprise from ESPN. Is the Kinect worth it? Will Nintendo's 3DS be any good? And why are there so many damn shooters? Our guest, gaming/tech expert, E3 veteran, and former Playboy editor Scott Alexander, joins us for some grumpy and impassioned talk.

Next week, Dan will be back from his E3 adventures, hands full of strange pictures and stranger stories. Until then, enjoy the show!

Producer Jon Landau introduces 'Avatar' on Blu-ray

Jon Landau, executive producer of James Cameron's phenomenally successful film Avatar and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, recently hosted a press day introducing the April 22 release of Avatar on Blu-ray--participating in one-on-one interviews with selected members of the press, as well as roundtable discussions. Although, there wasn't much in the way of food, they did have a bar where the Avatar blue martini was the house special. The following is a snippet of the roundtable conversation as well as discussions I had with James Finn of Twentieth Century Fox.

Cable co's team up for NYC Wi-Fi; iPhone 4G leaks; and the new MacBook Pros

This week, we check out a new plan from cable providers Comcast, Time Warner, and Cablevision to offer reciprocal Wi-Fi hot-spot access in the NYC area--seems good on paper, but none of us have ever stumbled across a cable company hot spot.

The really big news is the purportedly leaked iPhone 4G, thanks to a prototype allegedly left in a bar. If you don't want to wait for that, it seems that Palm and Verizon are giving away Palm Pre phones for a hard-to-resist single penny. We follow this up with a quick look at the pros and cons (no pun intended) of the latest MacBook Pro laptops.

Finally, get in on this week's video game giveaway with a chance to snag a copy of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, just released for the PS3. To win, listen to the show (but as you probably know by now, it involves a visit to our Facebook page).

Digital City 76: Which 50 percent of the show are now iPad owners?

This week, we find out which of our co-hosts went out and got iPads; believe it or not, it's 50 percent of the team. And it may be a bit early for such talk, but we're already looking at a few potential iPad killers.

And, just to give you a break from all this Apple action, we're hosting a special giveaway this week, a chance to win a very cool video game collectible: a life-size replica prop gun from the Sega action game Bayonetta.
Watch the show to see it up close, and for instructions on how to enter the contest (here's a hint, it involves our Facebook page)

Digital City 75: iPad launch memos and the Alienware M11x gaming Netbook (podcast)

On this week's show, we dive into the top-secret Best Buy handbook for the Apple iPad launch; take a closer look at Alienware's 11-inch M11x gaming laptop; and see if David Mamet's rules for TV drama apply to video games such as Just Cause 2 and God of War III.

Speaking of everyone's favorite video game of the moment, we're giving away a copy of God of War III this week, so watch/listen for info on how to enter. Here's a hint, it involves our Facebook Fan Page.

Digital City Podcast No. 74: Playing with Adamo XPS and the final word on Flash for the iPad

On this week's Digital City, we discover some new fallout from the no-Flash-on-the-iPad issue, then spend some quality time with the long-delayed superthin Adamo XPS laptop.

We do a quick survey to find out where we've earned foursquare mayorships (here's a hint: they're all bars), and then check the official office March Madness standings in our office pool. Let's just say that coin-flipping to pick his teams may not have been Scott's finest moment.

Finally, we've got some more video games to give away. This week, it's racing game MotoGP 09/10 for 360 and puzzler Rooms for Wii. Next week, we might be offering a trip to ancient Greece, if you get our meaning...

Watch the show for details on how to get in on these game giveaways, or just become a fan on our Facebook fan page.

In this week's pre-holiday edition of the Digital City Podcast, we all get ready for our one long break of the year, accompanied by special guest smartphone guru (and new CNET East Coaster) Bonnie Cha.
